Store Bio
Our family of grocery stores have been serving Jackson-area residents for more than 130 years. Five generations are now a part of a grocery business legacy that dates back to 1873, when Frederick Augusta Kennedy opened the first-ever store on Pearl Street in Jackson. It was this same entrepreneurial spirit that motivated his son, Frank, to open his own store (Polly’s) in 1934.
Named because of Frank’s love for the 1930’s parrot which said “Polly wants a cracker”, we have grown to include five Polly’s, five Country Markets, and one Save-A-Lot stores and employs over 800 people.
Convenient, clean, comfortable, and friendly, are some of the reasons that our stores have become the “neighborhood store” for the communities they are in. As the names of our stores are merged into one common name “Polly’s Country Market” you can be assured that you will get the same service you have come to expect from your “neighborhood store”.
It is our goal to provide you with the services and the prices which have made our business what it is. Come and see why we say “Serving you better and saving you more since 1934”.
